Samuel Sanchez has won the 12th stage of the Tour de France and Thomas Voeckler has retained the overall lead as the race entered the high mountains for the first time. The 211-kilometer (131.1) trek from Cugnaux to the Luz-Ardiden ski station featured three tough climbs in the Pyrenees -- including two among the hardest in pro cycling.

From me: The Schleck brothers looked pretty good on the climb, so did Cadel Evans. Alberto Contador lost contact in the final 1K. It was fun to watch those to Schleck’s attack one after the other. They both appear to be in equally as good of shape and the rest of the leaders are probably scratching their heads wondering who to stay with. I think the answer is both.
