Over the weekend the climbers in the Tour de France got to stretch their legs. The Schleck brothers, Alberto Contador and Cadel Evans were all there and it was hard to tell who looked better. No one really tried to make any moves and they all seemed to be content just staying within a bike length of each other. The young American rider from HTC highroad, Tejay Van Garderen looked really good. I think he is going to be great in the coming years. He blew up on the final climb on Saturday. (I didn't see Sunday's race.) Before that blow up, he was dominating.
I did see this morning some clips from yesterday's stage. There were a couple crashes. One was bad enough to send several top contenders home with broken bones. The real crazy crash was this one. Watch the video.
Here is a version with the broadcasters talking
Crazy and can you believe the guy that went into the barb wire fence was able to get back on his bike and ride on to the finish. This was the breakaway at the front of the peleton. In protest to the French TV car that took out the breakaway the entire peleton slowed down and raced slowly for about 20 minutes.
